Voices of TBAuctions: Making Compliance Collaborative

Welcome to Voices of TBAuctions, an interview series spotlighting the people behind Europe’s leading multi-brand B2B digital auction platform. Through candid conversations with our leaders and team members, we explore who they are, their experiences, insights, and the passion that drives our success.

We are excited to highlight Rosa Hurt, Group Risk & Compliance Specialist at TBAuctions. You can read the full interview below!

What do you enjoy most about working at TBAuctions?

The people are all so kind and welcoming, which creates such a positive place to work. (Honorable mention to all the amazing social gatherings TBA organizes, it’s always nice to have work events to look forward to and supports a great work life balance)

Could you describe your role and the key skills it requires?

My role is to ensure all brands within TBA operate within the legal regulatory and internal risk management frameworks (both EU and local law). Since joining TBA, I have been responsible for managing the Center of Excellence (COE), which is a specialist team under Group Risk & Compliance, responsible for the Know Your Customer (KYC) process.

My daily tasks can vary, typically I’ll be attending meetings discussing new processes and technical improvements to help streamline the KYC process.
When I’m not in meetings, you’ll find me drawing up proposals for process improvements, reviewing and developing workflows and procedures, managing KYC escalations and maintaining policies.

I’m also involved in putting together training material and workshops, which I really enjoy, as it gives me the opportunity to meet colleagues across all brands of the business. This role requires both technical and regulatory knowledge, as well as risk analysis and the ability to interpret litigation and policies.

What I love the most about my role is working with a wide range of stakeholders and having the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of teams such as Product, Auction support, Legal and UX.

What would you say to someone considering joining TBAuctions—why is it a great place to work?

TBA is a great place to work as the atmosphere is always welcoming and collaborative. It is a place where you can contribute your skills, grow and work alongside a wide variety of supportive and talented professionals. If your values resonate with ours and you’re looking for an innovative and dynamic workplace, I highly recommend applying for a position within TBA.

Which TBAuctions value resonates with you the most and why?

“Be humble and respectful” – This certainly resonates with me as I believe this is such an important value to have in all aspects of life, as everyone deserves to be treated with respect and fairly.

Just like within TBAuctions we believe that “everything has value”, I believe everyone has value with their unique skillset, especially in all the different perspectives and expertise they can bring to the organization.

As a child, what did you dream of being when you grew up?

As a child I had many interests such as working in film/tv or as a teacher. In my final year of school, my interests shifted towards Law and the Criminal Justice system, which is what I pursued in university. Now, I am working in a role which combines both Law and Criminology, which I love as I get to work in a field that truly interests me.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work to relax or stay inspired?

I really enjoy travelling, learning about other cultures and trying new things. When I travel, I’ll be skiing, swimming or jet-skiing at any opportunity I get! When I’m not travelling, I’ll most likely be convincing my friends and family into trying a new activity with me (pottery, painting, cage diving (my husband wasn’t very happy about that one), rock-climbing).

I love visiting exhibitions, seeing movies, going to live events, relaxing at a cafe or bar in the sun, hosting dinner parties and exploring new areas. The Netherlands is such a beautiful country to explore and with Amsterdam being so lively, there’s always something interesting going on, so I’m in the right city for it!
