Voices of TBAuctions: Where the people make the place

Welcome to Voices of TBAuctions, an interview series spotlighting the people behind Europe’s leading multi-brand B2B digital auction platform. Through candid conversations with our leaders and team members, we explore who they are, their experiences, insights, and the passion that drives our success.

We are excited to highlight Roy Walton, Driver at British Medical Auctions, a brand part of TBAuctions. You can watch the video above or, if you prefer, read the full interview below!

What do you enjoy the most about working at BMA?

Oh, it’s just the spirit! The people here are fabulous. Everyone is just so joyful. It’s a great team. We live in a bubble of support. Nothing’s the same. Every day is different. Every day is very different.

What is your typical working day like?

It varies. It depends on… Okay, what I do is get in one of these vehicles and visit hospitals to collect equipment. We bring it back, but the type of equipment we collect changes from day to day. Some of it is interesting; some of it is not. We learn that it’s… We get new equipment every day. Some of it is the same, but nothing is ever exactly the same. It’s just varied. It’s a varied job all the time.

Everybody here works hard. Everyone has a specific task, but everyone helps out and does everything, so to speak. So that’s varied. It’s lovely. Nice teamwork!

What advice would you give to someone new to the BMA team?

For starters, we’ve got a couple of new people who have recently started. I think they’ve all been welcomed because it’s such a lovely, happy place to work. It’s just a matter of embracing the environment and the knowledge of the people who have been here for years. Our CEO, Markus, is fond of the organization, and he likes that people learn so much here. It’s such a lovely place to work.

I always tell anyone who comes here that it’s a nice environment.

What hobby or interest brings you the most joy these days?

I love playing golf, and breaking par brings me the greatest joy. It doesn’t happen very often these days. But I love getting out there, especially when the weather is like it is now. Playing golf is my biggest passion outside of working at BMA.
