Voices of TBAuctions: The power of people and storytelling
Welcome to Voices of TBAuctions, an interview series spotlighting the people behind Europe’s leading multi-brand B2B digital auction platform. Through candid conversations with our leaders and team members, we explore who they are, their experiences, insights, and the passion that drives our success.
We are excited to highlight Marcela Bonafé, Communications Specialist at TBAuctions. You can watch the video above or, if you prefer, read the full interview below!
What do you enjoy most about working at TBAuctions?
My favorite part about working at TBAuctions is definitely the people. I spend more time at the office than at home during the week, so it’s important to me that people are nice and foster a healthy environment. It’s important to me that people are nice and foster a healthy environment. I think that’s what happens here. We do great things, but the people behind them are even better.
How does your role as a Communication Specialist contribute to the success and visibility of TBAuctions?
As a communications specialist, my job is to ensure that TBAuctions’ story is told clearly and consistently, both internally and externally. This can be done through campaigns, posts, or internal activities. I also need to connect people and strengthen our reputation. I also make sure that the world knows about all the great things we’re doing and the impact we have.
What has been one of your favorite campaigns, projects, or moments since joining the team?
It’s hard to choose just one favorite project, but so far, I think it’s been Voices of TBAuctions, which is a fairly new project. As I said in my first answer, my favorite thing about TBAuctions is the people. I love being able to talk to people and get to know them better.
I also get to give them a space to raise their voices, share their stories, and talk about what they’re doing. That’s the project I really appreciate, and I’m excited to see it develop further. I enjoy many things, though. It could be daily tasks or helping to organize our marketing summit. The work is really diverse. So it’s really hard to pick one project.
What inspires you creatively in your work?
There are so many things that inspire me creatively and in my work. I think creativity and inspiration can come from anywhere. However, there is one thing I always take into consideration. I am from Brazil, and we are known for being creative. Many of our marketing and communication professionals are awarded worldwide.
So, at the end of the day, I always ask myself, “What would a Brazilian do in this situation?” I try to channel my inner Brazilian. I’m always online, seeing what Brazilian brands are doing. I think that inspires me in my communications work.
Being connected with my country is like being in a creative hub for me. I can see what I can learn and apply here in Europe with the necessary adaptations.
What are some hobbies or interests you enjoy outside of work?
I have many hobbies and interests, but they’re all pretty simple. But what’s more important to me is who is around me. If I’m with my loved ones, anything can be fun, right?
Apart from that, I really like experimenting in the kitchen. For example, I brew my own kombucha. I’m always trying new flavors. I also make sourdough breads. Apart from that, I like being outside when it’s sunny. That’s not so common here in the Netherlands. So, whenever the sun is out, I’m outside. I try to absorb it for as long as I can.
I also enjoy reading and writing a lot. I have my own secret little blog, and it’s just my way of processing things. I just write them down.
If you had to describe your communication role in three words, what would they be?
Okay, that’s difficult, but I would say creative, versatile, and connection-oriented. Those three words sum up what I do pretty well.
